That girl shooting the M-16 in the air is spot on. The first time I shot a fully automatic assault rifle (an AR-15) I intentionally tried to empty the entire magazine at a target and the first few shots hit the target and the rifle quickly went upwards. You really gotta force it down once you start shooting to keep the rifle aiming forward if you're gonna shoot more than a couple rounds. It pushes out back too, but I was about twenty years old at the time and I was really scrawny, 6'1" and weighed at most maybe 160lbs. I almost fell backwards but I stopped firing once the rifle started pointing towards the sky. -

Watched this and The Thing in a back-to-back horror marathon when I was a kid. They've both made me rather terrified of any alien contact at all.

No lie, I literally only watched The Blob to come into this with some context and I fuckin loved it so much I watched it again immediately. It's on my long list of favorites that isn't really a list, more like a DVD collection in my head I don't actually own.

I've always described this movie to the uninitiated as "straight up child murder, and other assorted traumas."

What about that movie LIFE, with Ryan reynolds in space and that little lifeform white blob thing??

This movie both scared me but we also made fun of it. It is pretty cheesy but the deaths are gruesome.

I think the best example of blending puppets with CGI is The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance. They use puppets for nearly the entire show but only use CG for wide shots and removing the puppeteers.

The Blob remake will be about family. And that's what's powerful about it.

It stands on its own and has aged well. Didn't care for it the first time I watched it twenty years ago but it's a favorite now.
